Philipp Kirchner, born in 1999 in Frankfurt am Main, is a German pianist and chamber musician.
He is a prize winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the ARD International Music Competition Munich, the “Deutscher Musikwettbewerb”, the International Schumann Chamber Music Prize Frankfurt, and the Gianni Bergamo International Chamber Music Competition in Lugano. Furthermore, he was a finalist at the International Grotrian Piano Competition 2018.
As a soloist Philipp has performed with orchestras including Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and was generously supported by the Irino-Foundation and the Jürgen-Ponto foundation. Since 2019 Philipp is a scholarship recipient of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. He is particularly passionate about contemporary music, which features regularly in his concert programmes.
He studied with Prof. Alexej Gorlatch and Prof. Alexander Schimpf at the Frankfurt University of Music as well as at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master‘s both with the highest mark. Furthermore he has received important artistic inputs from musicians including Paul Lewis, Catherine Vickers, Eberhard Feltz, as well as from members of the Artemis Quartet and Fauré Quartet.
Philipp is a member and co-founder of the Amelio Trio.
